Three-phase power is a method of electrical power delivery that uses three conductors carrying alternating current at offset phases — common in commercial and industrial facilities. It's more efficient for running large motors, HVAC equipment, and high-demand machinery than single-phase power. Most commercial buildings already have three-phase service at the main panel; the question is whether individual loads and sub-panels are configured to take advantage of it.
